Trip to Kuching Pt. 1

Hi guys! Since now im done with my continuous assessment so now its time for me to update my blog :)

So yeah I'll skip the details of our trip and just briefly write about our experience and the places we went in Kuching as my phone was broken down and I have lost most of the information and some of the photos :(

Here we go !
Day 1
Once arrived Kuching, my aunt brought us for lunch

The wheat-chicken was really delicious...Is a must for you to have a try if you were there at the restaurant (p/s i forget what's the name)

While waiting my cousin sister to bring us out...

We actually took lots of photos and selfie haha

and you might be curious, why Bread store?
fyi, this bread store owned by my cousin sister, all the breads are freshly made
(p/s since my visit to kuching was almost 10 months ago I cant really rmb where the loacation is)

First stop: Jong's Crocodile Farm (杨氏鳄鱼场)-十七哩新村
Actually this was not the first time for me to visit here but was the first time for her
I've been here before twice or thrice?

It's only 20 minutes leisure drive from Kuching Town and it's the one of the largest and the only breeding farm in the country

Entrance fee is needed
Adult: RM22
Children: RM11

Gentle reminder: There will be a 20 minutes feeding demonstration at 11am and 3pm

Apart from crocodiles there are also numerous rare species of birds and animals found only in the Borneo Island. There are also monkeys, leopard-cats, sunbears, barking deers, sambar deers, fruit bats, pythons and even hornbills.

Jong's Crocodile Farm
Siburan, 29km Kuching-Serian Road,
93250 Kuching.

Opening time: 9am-5pm

Second stop: Panchor Hotspring

It is located at Kampung Panchor Dayak and is accessible via Kuching-Serian Road
The junction to the site is on the right side just after the Tapah Town.

It's a popular spot for people who seek for natural healing

Nice environment tho.

Dont worry.. as you can see the water is clean and clear :)

The temperature of the water is an average of 42 degree Celsius
And i use almost one hour to dip my legs fully into the hotspring haha

Third stop: Kuching Festival Food Fair (古晋美食街)

This food fair is held annually in Kuching for one month around July-August
Coincidentally we were there during that period

This is my lil cousin sister who accompanied us almost everyday during our visit :)

There was a lot of stalls selling a variety of food including those Japanese food, Korean food and also some Thai food.

Apparently, one day wasn't enough for us haha

Day 2 (BAU)
My fav kolok mee as breakfast

Bought some refreshing sugar cane drinks along the roadside

First stop of the day: Tasik Biru

From Kuching, we travelled to Bau and stopped by Tasik Biru

This lake is actually a man-made lake, due to previous gold mining activity

Wondering why the lake is blue haha

This is my aunt, who take care of us and brought us around during our visit

**Reminder: Beautiful though the lake is, visitors are warned not to swim in the lake, or fish or even drink the water as it contains high levels of arsenic, probably due to long periods of mining which exposed naturally occurring arsenic compounds.

Second stop: Wind Cave

We were interested to walk into the Wind Cave but we didn't because it was 'Ghost Festival'(中元节/七月半)during our visit. Aunt was worried about our danger as there are many cases happening during that period and that's why she doesn't allowed us to go into the Cave.

Okay so this is the river which leads through all the cave into Bau River.
After enjoying the cave, you can walk to the end of the road and take a refreshing bath with the locals in the clean Bau River.

If you walk/swim 100m upstream you can find the place where the small river runs out of the cave.

Be very careful upriver while swimming in the deeper parts. There are huge and slippery stones and tree trunks under water.

The water is quite cooling and refreshing

Beautiful stones :)

There is another cave which is called the Fairy Cave, around 6km further on the right on the same road after the Wind Cave. If you are in Kuching, you can have a day trip to Wind Cave and Fairy Cave which are located near the town of Bau.

Wind Cave
94000, Bau, Sarawak

Opening hours: 8.30am-4.30pm
Entrance Fee: Rm3/adult
Rm1.50/child

Had some refreshment before we continue our journey.

Third stop: Mount Orad (Dorod Orad)

Mount Orad is a one-stop tourists destination especially in Kuching-Bau-Lundu areas.
It is located at Kampung Grogo, Bau

It is described as a fortress for Bidayuh Bratak warrior Panglima Kurow above Kampung Grogo near here.

Come, Follow me into the jungle !

There is no broadway and we just climbed all the way up to see the view

The rock is hugeeeeee

See that long long trunk !

A selfie before going down ...

Climbing up wasn't a matter but climbing down was really a trouble

Mount Orad wasn't our plan on that day and that's why I did not prepared a sport attire haha

Although it was tiring, but nevertheless it was a kind of new and fun experience. No regret !

Mount Orad
Kampung Grogo, Bau, Sarawak.

 What they have there:
1. Cafe (not that high-class cafe as you think)
2. Outdoor Adventures
3. Bicycle & Offroad Tracks
4. Mount hiking
5. Recreational Activities
6.Culture Tourism & Heritage
7. Primary Jungle (Flora & Fauna)

Fourth stop: Siniawan Night Market

(p/s: ignore my tiring face)

Siniawan night market is only available on weekends.
This place surprised me in many ways, a variety of food, and historical shops.
The atmosphere is very unique and nostalgic.

It is a place that recommended to pay a visit if you hunt for foods as there are a lot of local food you can find there.  This small town has 48 wooden shops in total. The street is not too long stretch. Two straight rows with the middle walkway as vacant for tables.

During the day, the whole place is dead quiet... you can enjoy the peace and tranquility I guess.

My fav Kompiah with a variety of flavours

章鱼烧/ 铁板烧

It's a nice environment during night time and most important the old street with old building makes good place to take pictures :)

Siniawan Night Market
Jalan Siniawan Bau, Kuching 93746, Sarawak.

Opening hours: Fri-Sat ( 6pm to 11pm )
Sun ( 4pm to 11pm )

So that's the end of my day 2.
Thankyou for reading
Stay tuned for my part 2 yea !
